Actor and comedian Adam Devine, known for his roles in “Pitch Perfect” and “The Righteous Gemstones,” recently opened up about his struggle with weight gain during his wife Chloe Bridges’ pregnancy.
The couple welcomed their son, Beau, in February 2024, and while Chloe bounced back quickly, Adam found himself facing a different challenge.
In a candid interview with Page Six, Adam revealed that he gained 25 pounds during Chloe’s pregnancy.
“I was just eating everything with her and gained, like, 25 pounds,” he shared. “I was just a fat pig. I was just a little garbage can of a person. Just a garbage disposal. I was so gross,” he added.
The comedian even joked about growing a beard to cover his neck fat, feeling a bit ashamed of his weight gain.
Determined to shed the extra pounds, Adam Devine has been working out six days a week.

“I’m working out, like, six days a week to try to shed the walrus that I’ve become,” he said.
Despite the hard work, Adam Devine humorously noted how quickly Chloe bounced back compared to him. “She looked like herself, and it was so annoying. And [she] didn’t work out!”
Despite the weight gain, Adam Devine is thoroughly enjoying this new era as a father. “I’m honestly just having a blast. I feel like I’m coming into my own as a dad. I feel like I was born to be [a dad]. I’ve always sort of looked like a dad. I’ve always given dad vibes. … So now I’ve fully become myself”.
Why You Shouldn’t Be Ashamed of Weight Gain?
It’s important to also understand that weight gain is a natural part of life and shouldn’t be a source of shame.
Weight fluctuations are a normal part of life. Factors like stress, hormonal changes, lifestyle shifts, and even joyful events like pregnancy can lead to weight gain. It’s a common experience shared by many.
Focusing on overall health rather than just weight is crucial. Weight is just one aspect of health, and it doesn’t define your worth or well-being. Prioritizing balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and mental health is way more beneficial.
We all should understand that embracing body positivity means accepting and loving your body at any size. Everyone’s body is unique, and celebrating that diversity helps foster a healthier relationship with yourself.
Also it is important to remember that shaming yourself for weight gain can negatively impact your mental health. It’s important to practice self-compassion and understand that your value isn’t tied to your weight.
