Lizzo clarifies weight loss rumors, denies connection to Ozempic.
Lizzo took to Instagram on Friday to share photos of herself in a red silk kimono, addressing speculation about her recent weight loss.
The singer, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, explained that her transformation is a result of a new diet and fitness plan, not the use of Ozempic.
“When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit,” she fired.
In a video post, Lizzo responded to rumors while receiving support from fans.
The Instagram user questioned, “Did she use Ozempic or did she snort coke (cocaine),” to which the 36-year-old replied, “Whyyyy do u follow me?”
She has been documenting her health journey on social media, sharing updates with her followers.
Despite some online criticism, Lizzo’s supporters have been sending her messages of encouragement.
“When you’ve literally been posting your workouts as well,” one fan wrote, while another added, “I’ve been noticing the changes these last few months, but I didn’t mention it because it’s 2024 and we shouldn’t be talking about anyone’s body. However, you look AMAZING!”
Previously, Lizzo shared that she was focused on health and fitness amid her hiatus from touring.
“I’m taking the time every day to put some love into my body. There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing some Pilates,” she told The New York Times in April. “I’ve been methodical, losing weight very slowly.”
